Assignment 1: Poster/presentation
Read through the instructions carefully before you begin.
1. Choose a weather topic you are interested in: here are some suggestions *water cycle *hurricanes *tornadoes *blizzards *seasons, *wind *sun *a weather measuring instrument such as anemometer, hygrometer, wind vane
2. Research your topic to find out as much information as you can. Use the internet and if you have books or magazines at home, use those as well. Here are some sites you can visit:
4. Make a poster to show what you learned. You may make a poster out of paper, or make a Powerpoint and bring it on USB, or try to use Glogster (For Glogster, you will need your parents help to sign up for an account. You may use your wikispaces email and password to sign up.)
5. Include: information, illustrations, and sources.
6. Check your spelling and punctuation.
7. Do your best work. Your poster must be easy to read, look good, and be colorful. You will present your work on Friday to teach the class about your topic. Make sure you have information that you can share, not just pictures.
8. Your poster is due: Friday, November 18th
Assignment 2: Concept Map
Create a concept map on paper that shows how you understand the water cycle. You have done this in class already so you should know how to do it. It should be neat, and well laid out. There should words between each box to show how your connect the concepts. You should use color and you may add pictures. Here are the words to include: You may add other words too. Show me what you know about the water cycle.

Thursday and Friday, November 10-11 Homework
Today you will be learning about weather tools. Weather tools are tools that weather the weather. 1. Look at this powerpoint and learn the names of each weather tool and what it measures.
2. Go to this webpage and explore all the different weather tools and ideas for making your own. 3. Choose one tool you are interested in and try to make it from things around your house. You can search on the internet for other ideas of how to make it or make up your own way. Keep your creation safe so you can bring it to school on Monday. 4. Go to Weatherunderground Observe the weather in Beijing. Find the humidity, wind speed, wind direction, temperature, chance of rain 5. Print out the weather data sheet and fill all the information from Weatherunderground for today. Do it again tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday.
Were the weather measurements the same everyday? Why or why not?

Do the Cloud Webquest with this document and use the Cloud Webquest Note Sheet to record your answers. You can print it out or type your answers and save on USB key. Mrs. Penner will collect this on Monday.
